The Australian Open 2019 continued today with over 30 matches taking place across all courts at Melbourne Park.

The tournament witnessed its biggest upset as 20-time Grand Slam champion and 2-time defending champion Roger Federer was sent packing by Greek rising star Stefanos Tsitsipas. It was a match of missed opportunities for Federer as he failed to convert even 1 of 12 break point opportunities, most of which came in the second set. However, it was Tsitsipas who showed nerves of steel and put on an incredible show to defeat the Swiss Maestro. The scoreline was 6-7(11), 7-6(3), 7-5, 7-6(5) in favour of the youngster.

He will now take on Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarter-finals on Tuesday. The Spaniard continued his fine run of form but was taken the distance once again by last year's runner-up, Marin Cilic. Agut came out on top in 5 sets: 6-7(6), 6-3, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. He has now won nine matches in a row since the beginning of the year. However, he has already played three 5-setters in the tournament so far.

Rafael Nadal had an extremely easy outing against Tomas Berdych, winning the match in straight sets. He was tested only in the third set, which went to the tie-break. The scoreline was 6-0, 6-1, 7-6(5) in favour of the 17-time Grand Slam champion. Nadal will take on USA's Frances Tiafoe in the quarters. The youngster continued his impressive run of form and overcame Grigor Dimitrov in 4 sets.

There were upsets in the women's half as well as world no. 2 Angelique Kerber was given a thrashing by USA's Danielle Collins. Kerber was no match for her opponent, with the scoreline reading 6-0, 6-2 in favour of Collins.

Collins will take on Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who caused an upset against 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens, in the quarters. The unseeded Russian won 6-7(3), 6-3, 6-3.

Maria Sharapova, too, was knocked out by local favourite and 14th seed, Ashleigh Barty. Sharapova won the first set but lost the next two to get knocked out of the tournament.

Barty will now take on Petra Kvitova, who continued to dominate as she defeated USA youngster Amanda Anisimova 6-2, 6-1.

The fourth round of the men's and women's singles will conclude tomorrow as the top half, including the likes of Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, and Simona Halep will play their matches.

Leander Paes too will be in action tomorrow in the mixed doubles alongside his partner Sam Stosur.
