The second day of main draw action at the 2023 Swiss Indoors Basel on Tuesday, October 24, will feature seven first-round matches. Four seeds, two qualifiers, one wildcard and a lucky loser will be in action at the ATP 500 event.
On Monday, the likes of Botic van de Zandschulp, Sebastian Baez and Andy Murray emerged victorious, beating Roberto Bautista Agut, Christopher O'Connell and Yannick Hanfmann, respectively.
So, without further ado, here's a look at how the following four first-round matches at Basel on Tuesday could pan out:
#1 Hubert Hurkacz vs Dusan Lajovic

Fourth seed Hubert Hurkacz gets his Swiss Indoors Basel campaign up and running against Serbia's Dusan Lajovic.
World No. 11 Hurkacz is 38-21 this season and is coming off an opening-round loss in Tokyo after making the Shanghai final. Meanwhile, the 53rd-ranked Lajovic is 23-21 in 2023.
Hurkacz has won both their previous clashes - albeit on clay and grass - but should also take their first hardcourt meeting.
Pick: Hurkacz in straight sets
#2 Stan Wawrinka vs Alexander Shevchenko

Stan Wawrinka takes on qualifier Alexander Shevchenko as a place in the Swiss Indoors Basel second round beckons.
World No. 45 Wawrinka is 26-20 in 2023 and is coming off a second-round appearance in Stockholm. Meanwhile, the 83rd-ranked Shevchenko came through qualifying, having won only 10 of his 25 matches in 2023.
The two players haven't locked horns before, but the more experienced Wawrinka is expected to take the win.
Pick: Wawrinka in three sets
#3 Tallon Griekspoor vs Thiago Seyboth Wild

Tallon Griekspoor takes on Brazilian lucky loser Thiago Seyboth Wild in the opening round of the Swiss Indoors Basel.
The 25th-ranked Griekspoor is 32-21 this season and is coming off a quarterfinal run in Stockholm. Meanwhile, World No. 78 Seyboth Wild has won only four of his eight matches in 2023. The Brazilian has gone 1-1 on the ATP Tour after winning the Genoa Challenger last month.
This is another first-time meeting, but the more in-form Griekspoor is expected to prevail.
Pick: Griekspoor in straight sets
#4 Nicolas Jarry vs Adrian Mannarino

Seventh seed Nicolas Jarry takes on unseeded Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in his Swiss Open Indoors opener.
The 20th-ranked Jarry is 36-17 in 2023 and is coming off a quarterfinal run in Shanghai. Meanwhile, World No. 24 Mannarino is 39-22 this season after making the Stockholm quarterfinals.
This is yet another first-time meeting, but the more in-form Jarry should prevail.
Pick: Jarry in straight sets
