It is the most prolific title haul in the tournament category by a player who is past his 30th birthday.

Federer endured his 22nd Masters 1000 final defeat at the 2019 Indian Wells Masters.

This is perhaps one of Federer's less enviable records in the tournament category.

The Swiss maestro's defeat to Dominic Thiem in the 2019 Indian wells final was his 22nd loss in a Masters 1000 final - which is a record for most defeats in Masters 1000 finals by any player.

The next most defeats in Masters 1000 finals belongs to the duo of Djokovic and Nadal, who have each endured 16 losses in finals in the tournament category.

#5. Most Masters 1000 matches

The loss to young German Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Shanghai Masters was Federer's record-extending 489th match at a Masters 1000 tournament.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion, in the process, fell to 381-108 lifetime in matches in the tournament.

Nadal (384-79) has played the most Masters 1000 matches (463) after Federer.
