Who’s saying what at the French Open:

“Well, he’s my father. He thinks I can beat Rafael Nadal on clay.”

- Maria Sharapova on her father’s belief that she was born to be a champion.

“I do have my own business, but it’s candy. I’m, like, not on Wall Street.”

- Sharapova is not getting carried away by her fledgling business career away from the courts where she has developed her own line in sweets.

“I just asked to change the line judge. He told me that next changeover he will do it. But he didn’t, so I was really pissed.”

- Stanislas Wawrinka on his arguments with the chair umpire during his marathon five-set win over Richard Gasquet.

“If Chelsea beat Manchester United in both matches during the season but Manchester United win the Premier League, the better team is Manchester United. It’s gonna be very arrogant and very stupid for me say that today I have a comparison with him, because I think that cannot happen.”

- Rafael Nadal, winner of 11 Majors, shrugs off his 20-10 head-to-head winning record over Roger Federer, the record 17-time Grand Slam title winner, as meaningless.

“For sure. In the soul for sure. A little bit in the leg, too. But more in the soul.”

- Gasquet after surrendering a two-sets to love lead to lose to Wawrinka. The Frenchman has lost 15 times in 16 fourth round matches at Grand Slams.
