French Open 2015 Draw: Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal drawn in the same quarter
A look at the draw for the 2015 French Open
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and 9-time champion Rafael Nadal are in the same quarter of the draw at the 2015 French Open. Nadal, who is seeded 6 for this year’s tournament will open his campaign against 18-year-old Frenchman Quentin Halys.
Djokovic on the other hand will face off against Jarkko Nieminen in the first round. Andy Murray finds himself in the same half as Djokovic and Nadal. The Scot will look to continue his 10 match winning streak on clay when he takes on a qualifier in the first round.
20-year-old Nick Kyrgios who upset Federer at the Madrid Masters will be up against Denis Istomin in his opening match.
In the other half, 2009 champion Roger Federer will start his campaign against a qualifier. Gael Monfils, who got the better of Federer in their previous two meetings will face off against his compatriot Eduoard Roger Vasselin in the first round. 2014 Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka will be up against Marsel Ilhan in his opening encounter.
Tomas Berdych, who attained his career high ranking of 4 last week will face a qualifier in the first round. Fabio Fognini who had a decent clay court season thus far including two wins over Nadal will face Tatsumo Ito in the first round.
No. 14 seed Jo Wilfired Tsonga will play a qualifier in the first round. Barcelona champion Kei Nishikori faces a tricky test in his opener against Paul Henri Mathieu. 2013 Finalist David Ferrer will take on unseeded Slovakian Lukas Lacko, while US Open champion Marin Cilic will take on Robin Haase in the first round.
Feliciano Lopez will take on Teymuraz Gabashvili in his first round match.
