World No. 15 Victoria Azarenka will square off against Jil Teichmann in the third round of the French Open on Friday.
Victoria Azarenka started the season in good form. She reached the quarterfinals in Adelaide and the fourth round at the Australian Open. However, Azarenka has struggled with consistency since her campaigns Down Under.
She lost in the third round at the Indian Wells and Miami Open, losing to Elena Rybakina and Linda Fruhvirtova, respectively.
Azarenka played two claycourt events heading into the French Open and made the round of 16 in both tournaments in Madrid and Rome. She played well in the initial rounds of the tournament but couldn't sustain her level and lost to in-form Amanda Anisimova and Iga Swiatek, respectively.
After a tough first-round victory against Ana Bogdan at the French Open, Azarenka's form picked up in the second round as she cruised to a 6-1, 7-6(3) win over Andrea Petkovic. She is consistent from the baseline and does not leak unforced errors. Being a left gives her an added advantage, especially on serve.
