Iga Swiatek is back in Indian Wells and she is gearing up to take on the mammoth task of repeating the Sunshine Double yet again in 2023.

The World No. 1, who is the defending champion in Indian Wells, will hope to kick-off her United States March campaign the with nothing less than a perfect finish in Tennis Paradise.

The two weeks at the WTA 1000 tournament in California (March 6-19) are of greater significance to Swiatek as compared to the rest of the WTA players as she bids to maintain her not-so marginal dominance on the WTA ranking charts. In the on-going fortnight, Iga Swiatek has 1000 ranking points on the line from the 10585 points she currently possesses.

All eyes are expected to be on 21-year-old as she vies to become the tenth WTA player to lift the Indian Wells trophy more than once, and the first to defend her title at the tournament successfully since Martina Navratilova in 1991.

The tournament will see Iga Swiatek defend her second of the eight titles lifted in 2022, having been successful in her first one in Qatar in February.

Moreover, regardless of the result at the 2023 Indian Wells, the World No. 1 will need to bounce right back to commence her defense of yet another 1000 ranking points as she takes on the Miami Open between March 19 – April 4 as the defending champion.

The World No. 1 updated her fans about her return to the tournament by stating that she has been working hard every single day in the surroundings of a beautiful landscape.

“Peaceful mornings, a lot of work done every single day, beautiful landscape... So, so good to be back in tennis paradise! Hi BNP Paribas Open,” Swiatek said.

The Pole has been in red-hot form ever since her early fourth-round exit at the Australian Open. The 21-year hold triumphed at the Qatar Open in spectacular fashion and obtained a runner-up finish at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

After featuring in back-to-back finals in the Middle East, Swiatek will look to keep her momentum going at the Sunshine Double in the United States.
