The 13th and final day of the Italian Open on Sunday (May 21) will feature the men's singles and men's doubles finals.

On Saturday, both semifinals in the men's draw were played out. In a thrilling all-Scandinavian first semifinal, seventh seed Holger Rune recovered from a set down to beat fourth seed Casper Ruud.

Rune put in a sublime performance against Ruud, recovering from a set and break down to get off the mark against the Norwegian after five matches. After dropping the opener in a tiebreak, Ruud served at 4-3 only to drop the next three games as a decider ensued.

The reigning Paris Open champion then ran away with the third set, conceding just two games, to improve to 13-2 on clay this year. In the process, he also improved to 5-0 at the Foro Italico, having downed top seed Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. Rune is assured of a career-high top-six ranking and will break into the top five by winning the title.

Meanwhile, in a rain-delayed second semifinal, third seed Daniil Medvedev continued his sublime form, downing fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets to reach his third Masters 1000 final and first at a claycourt tournament.

Medvedev first took the court at 4:25 pm local time. After multiple rain breaks spanning over five hours, he emerged a straight-set victor to bring up a tour-leading 38th match win of the season, converting all four break points. A win for Medvedev will move him up to No. 2, ahead of Novak Djokovic, who will drop to 3.

Meanwhile, in an all-unseeded doubles match, the all-Dutch team of Robin Haase and Botic van de Zandschulp will take on Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski for the Italian Open title.
