Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Karen Khachanov preview

Second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will take on 14th seed Karen Khachanov in a blockbuster fourth-round clash at the Miami Open on Tuesday (March 28).
World No. 3 Tsitsipas returned to winning ways, beating Cristian Garin in three sets in the third round after a second-round walkover against Richard Gasquet. The 24-year-old had stumbled in the opening round at Indian Wells a fortnight ago.
Tsitsipas made a rousing start to the year, winning his first ten matches before losing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final. He returned to winning ways in the Davis Cup, winning both his singles matches against Ecuador, before making the Rotterdam Round of 16.
The 2021 quarterfinalist is now 8-4 in Miami, having made the fourth round last year (lost to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz) and in 2019 (lost to Denis Shapovalov).
Meanwhile, the 16th-ranked Khachanov improved to 11-5 in 2023 with a pair of wins this week - beating Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Jiri Lehecka. The 26-year-old is coming off a third-round showing at Indian Wells. Earlier this season, Khachanov reached the Adelaide 1 quarterfinals before making the last four at the Australian Open.
Khachanov is now 4-6 in Miami, having lost in the third round twice (2018 and 2021).
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Karen Khachanov head-to-head
Tsitsipas has a perfect 6-0 record against Khachanov, dropping only three sets, including one in their last meeting in the Australian Open semifinals this year. All but one of their meetings have come on hardcourts.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Karen Khachanov prediction

Both Tsitsipas and Khachanov like to dominate opponents from the back of the court and have a similar game style.
They have a formidable hardcourt game, as they serve big, hit powerfully off either flank and move well for their height. Tsitsipas, though, stands out with his single-handed backhand and penchant to venture to the net more frequently than Khachanov.
The Greek has had Khachanov's number, but neither player has played much since making deep runs at the Australian Open. Nevertheless, expect Tsitsipas to prevail in another tight battle.
Prediction: Tsitsipas in three sets
