Alexander Zverev touched down in Halle, Germany, to compete at the ongoing ATP 500 tournament, just days after a tough loss in the Stuttgart final. By his side is girlfriend Sophia Thomalla, who has joined him to offer her support and cheer him on from the stands.
Zverev began his grasscourt campaign on home soil in Stuttgart, aiming to reignite a season that’s been somewhat underwhelming since his runner-up finish at the Australian Open in January. He put in a solid effort throughout the tournament and made it all the way to the final, where he went head-to-head with Taylor Fritz.
While the German gave it everything and held his ground, Fritz was simply untouchable on the day. The American delivered a flawless performance to claim his fourth ATP title on grass and ninth overall, defeating the World No. 3 with a commanding 6-3, 7-6(0) scoreline. He fired 11 aces, didn’t face a single break point, and won a staggering 88% of his first-serve points.
Zverev seems to have shaken off the disappointment as he gears up for Halle. He is hoping for a strong run, but the road to the title won’t be smooth. Still, with Sophia Thomalla by his side, he will have all the support he needs to bounce back this week.

Alexander Zverev’s loss to Taylor Fritz in Stuttgart was his fifth in a row against the American, with the streak going all the way back to Wimbledon last year. After the match, Zverev couldn’t help but laugh it off, joking that he’s seen enough of Fritz for a while.
Alexander Zverev to Taylor Fritz after Stuttgart loss: “I am f***ing tired of you”

Alexander Zverev didn’t shy away from expressing his frustration after falling short to Taylor Fritz in the 2025 BOSS Open final in Stuttgart, dashing his hopes of clinching a second title this year after the BMW Open in April.
During his runner-up speech, Zverev jokingly said he was “tired” of facing Fritz and hoped not to see him across the net for at least the next two to three years.
“Taylor, I’m f***ing tired of you. I don’t want to see you again over the next two to three years. Please stay away from me. Don’t come to Germany anymore,” he said.
Zverev is set to face Marcos Giron on Wednesday, June 18 in Halle, while Fritz is continuing his grasscourt campaign at Queen’s Club, where he’s competing in the ongoing HSBC Championships.
