Carlos Alcaraz's domination reminds her of Serena Williams playing at her best, says Chris Evert

Tennis legend Chris Evert recently said that World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz's domination reminds her of 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams playing at her best.

Alcaraz made a name for himself at the age of 19, winning his first Major at the 2022 US Open and becoming the World No. 1 player by defeating the likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal over the course of the year. The Spaniard also won the third Masters 1000 title of his career at Indian Wells earlier this month.

In a conversation with Eurosport, Chris Evert said that other players at the moment will have to improve their game to beat Carlos Alcaraz, who is "unbeatable" at his best.

"I think Carlos will improve their game because they're going to have to play better than their best when they play him if they want to beat him. He's not unbeatable by any means, but at his best, he is," Evert said.

The 18-time Grand Slam champion went on to make a big statement, saying that Carlos Alcaraz's dominance on the ATP Tour reminds her of Serena Williams when she was at her peak.

"I almost think it's like when Serena Williams dominated the women's game and she was playing at her best, there was no way that anybody could beat her. And if she was a little off, that's when the players could beat her," Evert said.

Chris Evert further stated that in order to defeat Carlos Alcaraz, other players will have to play outside of their comfort zone, taking more "chances" and "risks" with each shot.

She added that the Spaniard is also human and will undoubtedly have some bad days.

"I think the current players will have to play out of the box, so to speak, play out of their comfort zone, and they're going to have to take more chances and more risks. And that's why I say I think Carlos will improve their game because they're going to have to play better than their best when they play him if they want to beat him," Evert said.
