Casper Ruud has fulfilled his promise to take his friend Miomir Kecmanovic to dinner in Norway.

Kecmanovic gave a reminder to Ruud that he was still owed a dinner when they were in Oslo for the Davis Cup tie between Norway and Serbia. Ruud had pulled out of that tie, but his long-time friend Kecmanovic featured for the Serbian team, and he mentioned in an interview that Ruud had a promise to fulfil. The clip made its way to Twitter too, where a fan account posted the cheeky reminder.

“miomir reminding casper to take him out on a dinner date in Norway is something so personal to me,” read the caption.

Another fan quipped that Miomir Kecmanovic knew the video would make it to Twitter, where Casper Ruud would see it.

“Miomir knows this video will make it to twitter and that’s where Casper will see it. Smart.”

Several others then urged Ruud to take Kecmanovic out, posting a stream of comments.

Two weeks later, Casper Ruud proved he was a true gentleman and took Kecmanovic out for dinner in Norway. He posted a picture via his Instagram account, which was then reposted by the account that uploaded Kecmanovic’s clip.

They re-tweeted the original video clip along with the picture and captioned it:

“he really followed through i’m crying.”

Casper Ruud enjoyed a career-best season in 2022, which saw him rise to World No. 2 in the ATP Rankings. He finished the season with three titles and also made the finals at the Miami Masters, Roland Garros, the US Open, and the Nitto ATP Finals.

The 24-year-old recently said that despite playing many sports and being competitive all his life, tennis was his natural choice. Casper's father, Christian Ruud, is a former professional tennis player himself.

“I would say that I’m quite professional about things in my career,” said the current World No. 4 in an interview with the ATP Tour. “I don’t mess around too much. Any time I step on court, whether it’s a practice or a match, I’m all business. Of course I always have fun with it.”
“If you win it, when the match is over you sort of lose like 10, 20 kilos off your shoulders,” he added. “You can just be yourself, you can let go of all emotions and feelings and know that the rest of the day, I’m going to be a winner.”

Ruud's career-best year of 57 wins in 2022 has cemented his place among the top names on the men’s tour,

“This is what you’ve dreamed of all your life," he concluded.

Casper Ruud will next be in action at the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco, beginning on February 27, 2023.
