Casper Ruud recently took part in a fun Q&A to answer a few questions from tennis fans. In the video titled “You asked. Casper Answered!” released by the ATP tour, the former World No. 2 also discussed fellow tennis players Matteo Berrettini, Serena Williams, Iga Swiatek and Andy Murray.

Casper Ruud, who has a rather unique sprinting style, which involves a lot of flailing when approaching a drop shot, was asked to elaborate on the habit. The Norwegian confessed that it was his reflex to the surprise of a drop shot and admitted that it wasn’t the most esthetic move.

“That’s a really good one,” the 24-year-old laughed. “It’s just my reaction. I’m like so focused on players trying to overpower me with their with their groundstrokes, then when someone throws in a beautiful drop shot, I am very surprised and my reaction is just to throw my hands up in the air and start running as fast as possible. It’s not a very esthetic move.”

“Are you and Matteo in love” was another hilarious question Casper Ruud answered in the video. The young athlete, who has had some exciting battles on the court with “good friend” Matteo Berrettini and a couple of memorable experiences at the Laver Cup, set the record straight by saying that the duo are a “bromance” at best.

“I wouldn’t say so. We’re good friends and we’ve had a nice couple of experiences during the Laver Cup. He’s a great guy, but I can tell you that we are not in love. It’s a good bromance. That’s a good word for it,” he said.

Casper Ruud further revealed that Iga Swiatek - from the current generation and Serena Williams - among the retirees were his two favorite WTA athletes.

“Iga plays fun - from the current generation. She’s been dominating the year or so,” he said. “From the past, I must say, Serena - to me she’s the GOAT.”

The two-time Grand Slam finalist also spoke about potentially teaming up with three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray for a doubles event. Ruud remarked that although the stars hadn’t aligned so far, partnering with the Brit in 2023 would be a fun experience.

“He’s a legend of the game. I played him in singles and it was fun sharing the court with him. We played with each other on the Laver Cup team last year. We didn’t get to play doubles together but I’m up for the partnership. Maybe Andy is [too]. I’ll have to ask him. But, could happen in 2023. That would be a fun team-up,” he said.
