Even though the encounter came to a disappointing end, it allowed the Spaniard to cruise through to his second consecutive final at the Paris Slam.

The upcoming match between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner, however, is set to be another crowd-puller, as the current World No. 1 will battle it out against the seven-time finalist and three-time title winner, in hopes of making it to his first final at Roland Garros.

Prior to this, the 23-year-old seemed to be in perfect shape, as in the first two sets he made the Spaniard struggle quite a bit with his huge forehand and strong returns. However, he gradually lost momentum, allowing Alcaraz to capitalize on his weaknesses as he took the lead 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-0, 2-0.

At the post-match interview, Alcaraz said:

“It’s never great getting through or winning a match like this. Lorenzo is a great player. He has had an incredible clay season. [He is] one of the few players who achieved at least the semi-finals at all the biggest events on clay. I think just four players had done that before… I always wish him all the best, a quick recovery, and hopefully we are going to enjoy his tennis pretty soon.”

Alcaraz added that he is looking forward to witnessing the upcoming clash of titans, as he awaits the winner of the match between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner in the final on Sunday (June 8).
