Elena Rybakina arrived at Astana airport to participate in Kazakhstan's Billie Jean King Cup tie against South Korea. Fans were quick to share their observations and humor noting her seemingly annoyed expression and apparent fatigue.
Rybakina has had a rollercoaster season. By April, she had already claimed three titles, but injuries and illnesses limited her appearances in the second half of the year.
In August, Rybakina parted ways with longtime coach Stefano Vukov before playing at the US Open. The 25-year-old won her first-round match at the New York Major but withdrew before the second round and took another extended break from the tour.
Rybakina recently came back for the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where she defeated World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the Round Robin stage but was ultimately unable to advance due to her losses against Jasmine Paolini and Zheng Qinwen.
Following the WTA Finals, Rybakina traveled to Astana, Kazakhstan, for the Billie Jean King Cup playoff tie against South Korea. A video posted on X showed Rybakina arriving at the Astana airport, where she appeared visibly tired with one fan writing:
"She looks so annoyed lol"
One fan joked about her lack of enthusiasm upon arrival, writing:
"Me filling the room with negative energy because i don’t want to be there"
One fan credited her apparent exhaustion to the journey, commenting:
"Nobody looks happy or fresh when they get off the plane to go to a job"

Elena Rybakina set to represent Kazakhstan along with Yulia Putintseva & Co. against South Korea in the BJK Cup playoffs
Fifth seed Kazakhstan lost to Japan in April in the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup qualifying round. The Kazakhstan team was without Elena Rybakina at the time and Japan's Nao Hibino along with Naomi Osaka helped them win the tie 3-1.
This week, Rybakina will join the likes of Yulia Putintseva, Zarina Diyas, Anna Danilina, and Zhibek Kulambayeva to represent Kazakhstan against South Korea at the National Tennis Center (Beeline Arena), Astana, Kazakhstan. The winner of the tie will be eligible to play in the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup qualifying round.
Even though she looked fatigued in her travel, fans would expect the Kazakh star to show her best on the court and win it for her country.
