The French Open 2023 is just around the corner, with the qualifying fixtures already underway. This year's tournament will not have Rafael Nadal competing but a number of top players will take part.

Carlos Alcaraz's second-round win at the Italian Open was enough to guarantee him the top spot in the ATP rankings, despite his loss in the very next round. The Spaniard will thus be the top seed at the French Open, the first time he has earned that honor at a Grand Slam.

Alcaraz was at the top of the rankings during the Australian Open too but was forced to pull out of the tournament after suffering an injury during training. The 20-year-old will be arguably the heaviest favorite to win the clay-court Major this year considering his current run of form.

Daniil Medvedev's triumph in Rome saw him climb to No. 2 in the ATP rankings. The Russian will therefore be the second seed at the French Open, and among the favorites to win given his 10-2 record on clay so far this season.

Novak Djokovic's quarterfinal exit at the Italian Open saw him drop two spots down to third in the ATP rankings, and he will be seeded third at this year's clay-court Major. This is only the second time since 2010 (the first being 2018) that the Serb is not among the top two seeds at the French Open.

With Rafael Nadal not competing, Novak Djokovic will certainly fancy his chances at Roland Garros. The 36-year-old is bidding to win the tournament for the third time in his career, and clinch a record 23rd Grand Slam in the process.

Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas complete the top 5 seeds at the French Open 2023

Last year's runner-up Casper Ruud will be seeded fourth in this year's tournament. Ruud is expected to have another good run given that he reached the semifinals in Rome.

2021 runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas will be the fifth seed at the French Open 2023. The Greek is another player capable of contending for the title considering his claycourt skills.

Monte-Carlo and Rome runner-up Holger Rune will be seeded sixth, followed by Andrey Rublev and Jannik Sinner at seventh and eighth respectively. Taylor Fritz and Felix Auger-Aliassime will be seeded ninth and 10th respectively.
