Girlfriend Ayan Broomfield delighted by Frances Tiafoe-welcome gift made out of chocolate presented to her at Citi Open in Washington

Frances Tiafoe's girlfriend Ayan Broomfield was delighted to receive chocolate inspired by the American as a gift from the Salamander DC hotel. Broomfield was in Washington D.C. to support her boyfriend at the Citi Open.

Tiafoe missed the Paris Olympics and opted to begin the US hardcourt season. He recently concluded his campaign at the Atlanta Open after a quarterfinal exit to Yoshihito Nishioka.

Tiafoe is currently in Washington D.C. for the Citi Open and will face Daniel Elahi Galan in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round. His girlfriend Broomfield shared a picture of the welcome gift from the Salamander DC hotel, a chocolate portrait with Tiafoe's picture.

“BFFR not him made out of chocolate. Stop,” she wrote on Instagram.

Broomfield also shared a picture from the airport as she touched down in Washington D.C.

Frances Tiafoe's girlfriend is also a tennis player, having achieved a career-high ranking of 680. She also played collegiate-level tennis for the UCLA Bruins and won the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship in doubles.

Frances Tiafoe's girlfriend Ayan Broomfield discussed a unique aspect of their relationship in an interview with Essence in March 2024. Broomfield, a Canadian tennis player, said that because of her background in tennis, they can discuss the technical aspects of tennis and his strengths and shortcomings after a match.

"I think for me, I’m blessed to have a tennis background. So when he’s going through things, we don’t just talk about it on the surface level like, “You can win next time.” We’ll actually sit down and work together and break down what’s going on. And I think that’s something that is unique to our relationship is the ability to go deeper and the ability to actually talk about what it is that he’s doing well, what it is that he’s not doing well," she said.

Broomfield also spoke about how tennis can be emotionally taxing if one doesn't stay grounded through the ups and downs.

"Tennis is a very up and down sport, and if you don’t stay grounded and centered through all the ups and downs, it just becomes not only a physical roller coaster, but also an emotional one and we don’t want that," she said.

Frances Tiafoe has had a mixed season so far, including a semifinal run at the Delray Beach Open and a finals appearance at the Houston Open.
