Holger Rune was extremely pleased to be able to represent Denmark in the Davis Cup in front of a packed home crowd earlier this week. The world No. 9 led his team to victory, giving Denmark all three points against India, and his performance drew a proud reaction from his mother Aneke.

Rune was part of three of the five matches in Denmark's home World Group play-off tie against India at Hilleroed and won all those matches to give his team the winning edge and thus earn promotion to the World Group 1 in the 2023 Davis Cup.

The 19-year-old expressed his happiness at being part of a highly successful weekend at the prestigious world team tournament in front of his compatriots.

"A true pleasure playing for my country and my Danish fans this weekend. With the win yesterday we are now in world group 1," Holger Rune wrote on Instagram.

Reacting to the same, Rune's mother Aneke was proud of her son's achievement.

"Bravo," Aneke Rune wrote on her Instagram Stories.

Rune then beat former India no. 1 Sumit Nagal 7-5, 6-3 to secure victory for Denmark.
