Alexander Bublik's frustration boiled over while facing his ninth consecutive defeat. In his match against Stan Wawrinka at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam, Bublik was trailing in the second set when he had his outburst.

Alexander Bublik hasn't had a very successful start to his year. He had a disappointing outing at the United Cup as he lost to both Hubert Hurkacz and Stan Wawrinka. He subsequently took part in the ASB Classic but lost his first match to David Goffin in straight sets.

During the Australian Open, Bublik was eliminated from the tournament in the first round after a grueling five-set match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Moreover, Bublik, who is ranked 50th in the world, also suffered defeats in both of his matches during the Davis Cup Qualifiers.

Bublik is no stranger to outbursts on the court as evidenced by him breaking three rackets in quick succession during his match against Gregoire Barrere at the Open Sud de France.

At the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam, Bublik lost the first set to Stan Wawrinka in a tiebreak. He was trailing 4-3 in the second set after being broken early when he began complaining about tennis as a sport in a pique of frustration.

“I’m complaining how stupid this f**king sport is because it is f**king stupid. Playing tennis is a headache," Bublik said in anger.

Stan Wawrinka eventually won the match 7-6 (5), 6-4 and leveled their head-to-head at 2-2.

Stan Wawrinka joked that Alexander Bublik would be responsible for the cost of the three racquets he destroyed

In response to Alexander Bublik's racquet-smashing outburst at Montpellier, Stan Wawrinka, who is also endorsed by Yonex, quipped that Yonex would send Bublik an invoice for the damaged racquets.

“Yonex will send him a small invoice too," he wrote.

According to sports journalist Marcos Zugasti, Yonex has included clauses in their contracts since 2017 that stipulate a fee for each racquet broken by players during matches, which clarified Stan Wawrinka's remark.

“This answer from Stan. Random fact: since 2017, Yonex began to put clauses in several of the contracts with its players to charge them a fee for each racket they break in matches. And the Japanese comply: you get the discount invoice,” Zugasti wrote.

Stan Wawrinka will face Richard Gasquet in the next round of the ABN AMRO Open. Gasquet currently leads their head-to-head 3-1.
