Mardy Fish hilariously reacted to Roger Federer’s appearance at the 2024 US Open, claiming he was 'tired' of the Swiss. Federer remains one of the most decorated players in the sport, clinching a total of 20 Grand Slam singles titles before retiring in 2022. On Tuesday, September 3, the Swiss maestro made a return to New York, but this time as a spectator, not as a competitor.

The 43-year-old was greeted with roaring applause from fans at Arthur Ashe Stadium as he attended the women’s singles quarterfinal clash between Aryna Sabalenka and Zheng Qinwen, as well as the men’s singles quarterfinal match between Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov.

The official US Open X (formerly Twitter) account posted a video of Federer walking into the stadium and exchanging pleasantries with fans. Fish then retweeted the post and sarcastically commented that he has had enough of the 43-year-old.

Since his retirement in 2015, Mardy Fish has shifted his focus to golf and has thrived, including winning his second American Century Championship in July.

A fan also commented under Fish’s post, writing that he should be thankful the former World No. 1 isn’t playing golf. Fish humorously responded, expressing anticipation for a potential encounter.

"Be thankful he does not play golf," the fan said.

He recalled the third round of the 2003 Wimbledon Championships, where he underestimated Federer, only to be beaten 6-3, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 as the latter went on to win the tournament.

"What are your favorite @rogerfederer moments? I'll start... 2003 Wimbledon, 3rd Rd I play this Federer guy. Called a friend after my 2nd Rd win and said 'I think I've got a great draw now. I don't think this guy is all that great! Got crushed and he won the tournament," Mardy Fish wrote on X.

After defeating Fish, Federer went on to defeat Feliciano Lopez in the fourth round, Sjeng Schalken in the quarterfinals, and Andy Roddick in the semifinals before winning Mark Philippoussis to lift his first major title.

It was their first encounter, and they went on to face each other eight more times on the ATP Tour, with Federer winning all their meetings except when they met in the semifinals of the 2008 Indian Wells.
