Maria Sharapova decided to hang up her racket in 2020 and since then has taken up numerous business ventures. She is an advisor to Naked Retail and Bright, investing in companies like Bala Bangles, therabody, etc.

In an interview with Bloomberg Originals, she answered questions about her future. Sharapova revealed that she does not like to plan too far ahead into the future.

"Well I don’t look so far ahead. I don’t look at 45. I don’t look at 50," Sharapova said.

The Russian said she is spending her time building a platform, mentioning that like her tennis career, her business would take time to establish.

"Business-wise, there’s a platform I am working on and developing that will take time. But as I said, I’m not in a rush. And I recognize, I realize that everything that I’ve built for my tennis career was built upon years and years of work and ups and downs and it will in my business career," Sharapova said.

Sharapova added that she was not afraid to take chances and take intimidating roles. The former World No. 1 revealed being on the board of an Italian company, Moncler, which is a challenging endeavor for her.

"But I’m curious. I’m not afraid to take chances. I’m not afraid to take on roles that might be intimidating. I mean I’m on the board of Moncler, and I sit in an Italian conference room with a translator in my ear because it’s an officially publicly traded Italian company. So it has to be done in Italian and it is intimidating," she added.
