Roger Federer tried his hand at polo under the guidance of Argentine polo player Ignacio Figueras. Federer retired from professional tennis on the ATP Tour after his Laver Cup doubles match with Rafael Nadal in September 2022. Since then, he has been exploring different sporting activities.
The 20-time Grand Slam winner and 103 singles ATP Tour titlist grew up playing basketball, badminton, tennis, and football but focused on the latter two. He also tried skiing and swimming in his earlier days. After winning the U12 Swiss national junior tennis championships in 1993, he shifted his complete focus on tennis.
In his recent Instagram post, the Swiss was spotted on horseback at a polo course, taking guidance from Figueras. The latter posted a photo on his Instagram with the caption,
"Had an amazing time introducing @rogerfederer to polo! He crushed it. Great to share the sport I love with a true legend. #GameSetPolo"
Figueras also shared a photo of him posing with Federer in his Instagram story.

The former World No. 1 also graced the golf course some time back, trying to pick up a new hobby.
"Trying to pick up a new hobby. Wish me luck… Any pointers?" his caption read.
The 43-year-old has experience in skiing as well. A while back, he was spotted on an icy slope, skiing downhill like a professional after 15 years.
"It’s been 15 years, it feels so good to be back on the slopes #newbeginnings," his caption read.
Roger Federer skied with his longtime friend Lindsey Vonn who admired him throughout the years
Lindsey Vonn, the four-time World Cup winner, has always been an admirer of Federer's dominance in tennis and lauded him for showing true sportsmanship. Earlier this year, Federer and Vonn skied together and enjoyed their time in retirement.
"I finally got to ski with my friend Roger… yes, @rogerfederer! Have to take some time to really reflect on what it this means to me… I have admired Roger as an athlete, philanthropist and incredible champion for so many years," Vonn wrote in her Instagram post.
She added:
"Thanks for this memory Rog. You and your family are truly one of a kind and no matter what the statistics say (or Leo lol) you’re my forever (goat)."
Besides his success on the ATP Tour, the Swiss legend also won two medals at the Olympics, a gold in doubles at the 2008 Beijing Games and a silver in singles at the 2012 London Olympics.
