American political activist Charlotte Clymer recently expressed her frustration regarding the exclusion of Serena Williams from discussions about the most dominant athlete of all time.

With Tiger Woods returning to the PGA tour after a seven-month hiatus, questions regarding the greatest athlete of all time re-emerged on social media and various sports journalists shared their opinions on the same.

“True or False: Tiger Woods is the most dominant athlete of their respective sport in history,” was the question asked by the Caddie Network.

Well-known sportswriter Rick Reilly disagreed and stated that Canadian former ice hockey player Wayne Gretzky, the leading goal scorer in NHL history, was the most dominant athlete of all time.

“False. Gretzky,” Reilly said.

American sports and political commentator Keith Olbermann argued that Gretzky wasn’t an all rounder and suggested that American baseball player Babe Ruth was the most dominant athlete.

“If Gretzky had been the best scorer AND one of the top goalies, he'd be the correct answer to this question: Babe Ruth,” Olbermann said.

However, American human rights activist Charlotte Clymer was unimpressed by the complete disregard for Serena Williams and compared the other athletes to the 23-time Grand Slam champion to argue her case.

Clymer noted that Williams was all alone, competing on the tennis court while the other athletes either had teammates or some form of assistance. She also mentioned the tennis legend's 2017 Australian Open win; the Grand Slam she earned while pregnant with her daughter.

“You're all wrong. It's Serena Williams. Gretzky and Ruth had teammates. Tiger has a caddie. But Serena? All alone on the court. Just her. And there are no multi-day comebacks in tennis like there are in golf. Lose a match? Goodbye. She won 23 grand slams, one while pregnant,” she argued.

The activist further expressed her displeasure, calling Williams' exclusion “maddening.”

“Gonna write a longer essay about this because it's maddening the way sports commentators don't give Serena Williams her due,” she said.

Serena Williams decided to hang her racket after 27 glorious years on the professional circuit. She did so with 73 career singles titles to her name, 23 of them being Grand Slams.

At her last tournament, the 2022 US Open, the American tennis legend treated the global audience to a spectacular performance, earning two wins. Her last ever professional win came against the then World No. 2 Annet Kontaveit.

The 41-year-old recently spoke about going through mixed emotions about retiring from the sport after such a performance.

"Actually, I did play the other day, and it's just like, 'There's no way I shouldn't be playing professional tennis. Like, there's literally no excuse. But I mean, I guess there is an excuse, right?" she said.
"It's hard because when I'm playing, I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, I'm pretty good at this. I can continue to do this,' which not a lot of people can say," Williams added.
