Jannik Sinner is not afraid of the daunting challenge ahead when he faces an in-form Daniil Medvedev in the 2023 Miami Open final. Rather, the daring Italian identifies it as an opportunity to improve his game.

Sinner stunned top-seed Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals on Friday (March 31), rallying from a set down to oust the Spaniard 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2 in what was a nail-biting encounter.

With the win on Friday, Sinner earned a place in the Miami Open final for the second time in his career, having missed out on the title last time around (in 2019) after falling to Hubert Hurkacz.

Anyhow, Sinner is confident about putting up a valiant fight on his second try. During his post-match press conference, the world No. 9 revealed that he would take the challenge as an opportunity to find the right mix in his game necessary to outclass his nemesis.

"I enjoy them, because also now the final I will enjoy because I need to change something, no? I have to find a right way to win against Daniil. If it's not this time, hopefully there are many other times, no?," he stated.

Sinner has faced Medvedev on five occasions on tour, with the Italian failing to come through each time.

Highlighting his latest defeat to the Russian at the ABN AMRO Open, Sinner opined that he will have to "mix up" his game slightly to have an increased chance of winning the match on Sunday (April 2).

"I never beat Daniil. We had already one final in Rotterdam. I was able to win one set there. We had a couple of matches or some more where we went third set," Sinner added. "Also there I need to make some changes, trying to mix up the game a little bit also. Then we see."

Jannik Sinner is delighted to face Daniil Medvedev in yet another final in 2023. Having endured a three-set defeat to Medvedev in the ABN AMRO Open final in February, there is nothing but revenge on the mind of the young Italian.

With conditions much more favorable in Miami compared to Rotterdam, Sinner hopes he can finally unravel the Medvedev challenge.

"Different conditions than in Rotterdam. I'm very happy that I can face him in a final again," Sinner opined. "The last one I lost obviously, but I'll try my best, I'll try to make some good changes like today against Carlos and let's see. I feel good on this court. I have very good memories and hopefully I can show some good tennis."

Jannik Sinner could reach a career-high No. 6 if he wins the Miami Open title on Sunday.
