John McEnroe's ex-wife Tatum O'Neal shares heartwarming childhood picture of their daughter Emily

John McEnroe's ex-wife Tatum O'Neal recently shared a childhood picture of their daughter, Emily McEnroe.

In 1986, the seven-time Grand Slam champion wed Tatum O'Neal, an American actress. The pair, however, separated in 1994. Both parties accused one another of drug abuse during their divorce, which attracted the attention of both their fans and the media.

The duo have three children together -- Kevin, Sean and Emily McEnroe. However, O'Neal lost custody of her children after their divorce and developed a heroin addiction, from which she eventually got clean.

On Thursday, Tatum O'Neal shared an adorable childhood photo of her youngest child on Instagram. In the photo, the actress is seen holding little Emily in her lap, who is now 31 years old.

She captioned the post, writing:

"My daughter."

Emily McEnroe is a rather well-known actor in the entertainment industry. She made her acting debut in the sci-fi film "Futra Days" in 2022 and appeared in a documentary about her father. She is also a voice actor.

Tatum O'Neal spoke candidly about her split with John McEnroe in a 2020 interview with CBS News. She claimed that being married was the happiest moment of her life and that ending the relationship may not have been the best decision.

"I was not myself. I was, at 22, and then the kids gave me a kind of a real reason to keep going and fight. And still, the happiest times of my life were the times that I was married, funny enough. So, sometimes we think we're making the right decision and maybe we aren't. And I have to live with that, too. Well, to leave my marriage," O'Neal said.

She admitted that she felt loved and cared for by her husband and went on to add that she had never met somebody as special as McEnroe. The American expressed her delight at seeing the seven-time Grand Slam champion happy as well.

"Perhaps not. I was loved, I was cared for. That's it, that's what one wants, isn't it, in a marriage? I've never met anyone who even comes close to my ex-husband. He's happier, and I'm happy for him. And that makes me happy," O'Neal continued.

John McEnroe met Patty Smyth after the dissolution of his marriage to O'Neal, and just a few years later, in 1997, the couple tied the knot. Patty is a singer-songwriter, who became well-known for her work with the band Scandal, which she then used to launch a successful solo career. Smyth and McEnroe share two children together: daughters Anna and Ava.
