Dominic Thiem has received a wildcard for the main draw of this season's Indian Wells Masters. The Austrian will be competing in the Masters 1000 tournament for the first time since his win in 2019 when he beat Roger Federer in the final.

Thiem recently took to social media to announce the news.

“Hello Indian Wells! Today I received the great message that I will get a wild card for the 2023 BNP Paribas Open. It’s unbelievable news for me as it’s a tournament I love and it’s going to be the first time I played there since I won the tournament in 2019. So looking forward to seeing you all there. Thank you!” Thiem said.

Dominic Thiem most recently competed at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires, where he reached the second round by beating Alex Molcan 7-6(4), 6-3 before losing 6-4, 6-4 to eventual semifinalist Juan Pablo Varillas.

He will next compete at the Rio Open as a wildcard and will face Thiago Monteiro in the first round. It will be the first tour-level meeting between the two and the winner will take on either second seed Cameron Norrie or a qualifier in the second round.
