Nick Kyrgios recently revisited his match against Roger Federer at the 2019 Laver Cup in Geneva.

Federer and Kyrgios played out a thrilling encounter, which the Swiss won 6-7 (5), 7-5, 10-7 in front of 17,000 fans. The win helped the 20-time Grand Slam champion maintain his 100% Laver Cup record against Kyrgios. It also resulted in Team Europe establishing a 5-3 lead over Team World.

Ultimately, Team Europe won the Laver Cup for the third consecutive year, edging out Team World 13-11.

Recently, a video focusing on Federer and Kyrgios' memorable match surfaced on social media and drew the Australian's attention. Kyrgios re-shared the video on Instagram and captioned his Story:

The video also featured a small part of what Federer had said about the match following its conclusion. The Swiss praised the energy of the crowd at Geneva's Palexpo.

"I was just trying to stay focused. If you can turn the momentum, the crowd gets back into it and I need some earplugs next time, it was just phenomenal," Federer said.

Nick Kyrgios' 'favorite match' came against Roger Federer

Kyrgios and Federer clashed seven times on the ATP Tour, with the Australian coming out on top in the pair's first meeting at the 2015 Madrid Open. One of their most iconic matches came in the semifinals of the 2017 Miami Open. At the time, Federer was 35 years old and went up against a 21-year-old Kyrgios.

The match went Federer's way, but it was not a straightforward contest. Kyrgios showed flashes of brilliance and for large parts of the match, managed to contain Federer, who had entered the tournament after winning the 2017 Australian Open.

However, ultimately, Federer was not to be denied, as he won the encounter 7-6 (9), 6-7 (9), 7-6 (5) and reached the final.

In September 2023, Kyrgios shared the highlights from the match on social media and dubbed the contest his 'favorite' match.

"My favorite match," Kyrgios wrote on Instagram.

In the final, Federer faced big-serving John Isner and comfortably defeated the American 6-1, 6-4. The win marked the Swiss' fourth title in Miami, his final ATP Masters 1000 title, and the 101st singles title of his illustrious career.
