Felix Auger-Aliassime is the top seed at the 2023 Lyon Open.

The sixth edition of the Lyon Open will be held from May 21-27, 2023. It is one of four tournaments taking place across the ATP and WTA tours next week, offering players one last chance to get ready for the French Open.

World No. 10 Felix Auger-Aliassime headlines the field, having received a wildcard. Frenchmen Gael Monfils and Arthur Fils are the other wildcard recipients.

Despite many top players already heading to Paris for the French Open, the Lyon Open has managed to assemble a rather competitve draw. On that note, here's all the relevant information regarding the tournament:

What is the Lyon Open?

The tournament came into existence in 2017 by replacing the Nice French Riviera Open. It is classfied as an ATP 250 event on the men's tour. It generally takes place a week before the French Open.

Played on outdoor clay courts, the tournament features a 28-player draw, with the top four seeds receiving a first-round bye. Dominic Thiem, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Stefanos Tsitsipas are among the former champions.

Venue

The Lyon Open will be held at the Vélodrome Georges Préveral, Parc de la Tête d'or, in Lyon, France.

Players

Cameron Norrie is the defending champion at the Lyon Open.
Cameron Norrie is the defending champion at the Lyon Open.

Top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime's clay season has been quite disappointing so far. He left the Masters events in Madrid and Rome without winning a match in singles. The young Canadian will be aiming to bounce back before heading to Paris for the year's second Major.

Cameron Norrie claimed his maiden title on the red dirt by emerging victorious in Lyon last year. His results during the South American clay swing were pretty good, having reached the final in Argentina and won the title in Rio. However, his results in Europe have been rather pedestrian, with him compiling a 4-4 record.

Norrie is seeded second at the Lyon Open and will be hoping for gather some momentum ahead of the French Open.

Third seed Tommy Paul is yet to win a match at the ATP level on clay this year. The American did reach the final of a Challenger event in between, but will need to raise his level going forward.

Fresh off a quarterfinal finish at the Italian Open, fourth seed Francisco Cerundolo will be eager to continue his good run of form in Lyon. Miomir Kecmanovic, Sebastian Baez, Richard Gasquet, and Brandon Nakashima are the remaining seeded players.

The full draw can be found here.
