No stranger to red carpet events herself, Maria Sharapova gave her seal of approval to her favorite looks from the Oscars 2023 red carpet while preparing to attend the event herself.

Since her retirement from professional tennis in 2020, Maria Sharapova has taken the fashion world by storm, known for her bold looks and efforts to champion the growth of sustainable fashion.

On February 24, the former World No. 1 attended the Moncler Genius fashion show during London Fashion Week in a stunning look inspired by Catherine Deneuve. She reunited with former rival and fellow fashionista Serena Williams at the event.

In between updates of her own preparations for the occasion, the five-time Grand Slam champion shared her opinions on her favorite looks from the Oscars 2023 red carpet.

Sharapova gave her vote to Cara Delevingne's bold and striking red dress that stood out on the Oscars carpet. The 35-year-old praised Jennifer Connelly's "statuesque" look in a classic black gown. She also gave a thumbs up to Best Actress nominee Andrea Riseborough for her blush pink gown.

Known for being one of the most marketable athletes in tennis, Maria Sharapova appeared on 'The Glossy Podcast' on March 3 and expounded on the importance of young athletes having a strong support system to help navigate the challenges of the industry when it came to taking up endorsement deals.

"It takes all the strength in the world and very smart and knowledgeable people to help guide you and help you understand [which deals to make], especially when you’re young because you don’t know," Sharapova said.

She highlighted the importance of understanding the authenticity of brand deals and seeking guidance to navigate the business aspect of endorsements.

"It’s hard to have a real grip on the business [of brand deals], and to understand what people really want from you and how authentic it is," Sharapova continued.

The two-time French Open champion advised other athletes to listen to their close associates and surround themselves with strong people who have their best interests at heart, rather than those who are solely interested in making money off of them.

"Listen to the people that you’re close with, particularly when you’re young. You have to surround yourself with strong people that are looking after you and not trying to make money from you."

Some of Maria Sharapova's most famous endorsements were deals with Posche, Tag Heuer, Tiffany, and Nike.
