A year after Iga Swiatek completed the Sunshine Double by lifting the Miami Open trophy, tennis action returns to the Floridian city. The 38th edition of the tournament is set to be played between March 21 and April 2.

Looking to challenge Swiatek will be the likes of Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka, last year's semifinalist Jessica Pegula, and a slew of other top names.

On that note, let's take a look at all the important information regarding the 2023 Miami Open.

What is the Miami Open?

One of the oldest tournaments on the WTA Tour, the Miami Open was first played in 1987 on the courts of the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, Florida. It moved to its current venue — the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens — in 2019.

With eight titles in her bag, Serena Williams is the most decorated player in terms of women's singles trophies at the Miami Open. The likes of Steffi Graf, Victoria Azarenka, and Ashleigh Barty are among the other names to boast multiple titles at the venue.

Iga Swiatek won the tournament last year, completing the 'Sunshine Double' — having already triumphed at the Indian Wells.
