Alexander Zverev recently announced the release of his documentary 'Zverev: Der Unvollendete' -- translated as 'Zverev: The Unfinished One.' The documentary follows his journey after his injury in the semifinals of the 2022 French Open and his eventual comeback.

The German shared a half-minute clip on social media as a preview of the documentary, which began with some of his childhood memories of picking up the racquet. It also featured Novak Djokovic speaking about the German, and closed with Zverev feeling devastated after his Roland Garros injury that put him out of action for almost a year.

"Two things are missing for me: No.1 in the world and a Grand Slam and I could have done it all in that one week. The first though was 'Is my career over now?'" he said at the end of the video post.

Tennis fans took to Twitter to react to the World No. 14's post, with many exasperated at his assumption. At the time of the injury, he was one set down against 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, with the second set heading into a tiebreaker.

Tennis blogger and journalist Scott Barclay opined that regardless of Zverev's physical status, the 14-times French Open champion would have won the match anyway. He wrote:

"My controversial opinion is that even if Zverev hadn't injured himself in that match, Nadal still would have won it."

Another fan joined him in agreement, adding that Zverev's record against top 10 players in Grand Slams was concrete proof that the match was Nadal's to lose.

"It shouldn't be controversial at all? zverev peaked in set one and still choked it away and ppl think Mr 1-12 v top 10 at grand slams would beat nadal on chatrier?????????" a fan posted.

The aforementioned documentary about Alexander Zverev will be featured on the streaming service RTL+ from Sunday, March 19.

The documentary's camera crew followed the German closely after his injury at the French Open, highlighting the doubts and fears he faced at the possibility of not being able to play professionally anymore and the mental strength it required for him to make a comeback.

"My story. My journey. My comeback. The new documentary starting tomorrow on @rtlplus," Zverve posted alongwith the documentary's teaser.

The Olympic gold medalist had earlier spoken about his struggles with Type 1 diabetes and how it made his decision to undergo surgery particularly difficult. At a gala in Hamburg for the Alexander Zverev foundation that helps diabetic athletes, Zverev shared his own experience.

"My biggest fear is always that I won't be able to fulfill my childhood dream," he said. "The injury gave me the chance to realize that there is a lot more out there than tennis."

The documentary also features Zverev's friends and family telling stories about the 19-time ATP title winner.
