Djokovic's quest to win his record-extending 25th Grand Slam title came to an end in the semifinals of the claycourt Major, as the Italian delivered a stellar performance to claim a 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(3) victory. Speaking to reporters afterwards, Sinner shed light on the many things he had learned from the Serb over the years.

Acknowledging his good fortune at having the opportunity to practice with Novak Djokovic when he was younger, Jannik Sinner credited the 24-time Grand Slam champion for always taking the time to provide honest answers for any questions he had.

"Many things. I was lucky enough to practice with him when I was very young. In Monaco we practiced a lot. Every time I asked questions, he answered me in a very honest way. It’s very nice," he said.

Sinner also said that people who weren't acquainted with Djokovic often had a wrong impression of him because the Serb was very kind and helpful in person. Despite acknowledging the significant difference in their playing styles, the World No. 1 also shared that he had learned a lot from watching the 38-year-old's matches.

"People don’t see how he really is. I think people from outside or people who don’t know him have a different picture of him. It’s not like this. He’s a very kind person. He’s very helpful in times when you need it. I’ve learned many things from him," Jannik Sinner said.

"I feel like my game style is.. not the same, because we are different, but at times similar. I’ve watched a lot of his videos. I was lucky I could share the court with him some time ago. He’s very important for me as a player and also as a person," he added.

"He was the deserved winner. I felt constantly under pressure. He didn’t allow me to kind of have time to swing through the ball. He was just constantly on the line trying to make me defend. So that’s why he’s the No. 1 in the world. I wish him the best for the final. I think it’ll be an amazing matchup with Carlos. Two best players for sure at the moment," he said.
