Novak Djokovic's fans defended him against criticism from Rafael Nadal's fans over his celebrations after a victory over the Spaniard at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He defeated Nadal 6-1, 6-4 at Roland Garros in the second round of the men's singles event held at Roland Garros.
Djokovic was slammed for celebrating the win in a match that was probably Nadal's final singles appearance at Roland Garros, the stadium where he's won 14 of his Grand Slam titles.
One of the Spaniard's fans took to X (formerly Twitter) and slammed the Serb writing:
"Anyways, Novak Djokovic remains an a**hole and Rafael Nadal remains Rafael Nadal."
A couple of days later, the 22-time Grand Slam champion found himself at odds with chair umpire Morgane Lara officiating his and Carlos Alcaraz's doubles match against Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram of the United States.
Djokovic's fans used Nadal's situation to defend the former and mock the Spaniard's fans.
"Anyways, Rafael Nadal remains Rafael Nadal," a fan wrote quoting the above tweet.
At this, more fans followed suit and targeted the Spaniard, with one claiming he had been favored all along.
"Nadal has done this sort of thing his whole career and the pundits will always let it slide," a fan wrote.
"So disrespectful. Novak does it his batsh*t crazy minions would be raging right now," wrote another.
Here are a few more reactions from X:
"That umpire gonna be on the blacklist now for his matches," a fan claimed.
"Anyways, Đoković remains the goat and Rafael Nadal isn't," a fan wrote.
"Every single one of those Fedal psychos would posted, reposted, and reposted everyone else’s posts about it," a fan remarked.
