The ninth edition of the Rio Open will start on Monday. There are some big names taking part in the tournament, including reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz and second seed Cameron Norrie.
The likes of Lorenzo Musetti, Diego Schwartzman, and Dominic Thiem are also competing in the ATP 500 tournament.

What is the Rio Open?
The Rio Open is a clay-court tournament that takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is part of the ATP 500 series and has been held every year, apart from 2021, since its inception in 2014.
Rafael Nadal won the inaugural edition of the tournament by beating Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-3, 7-6(3) in the final. The likes of David Ferrer and Dominic Thiem have also triumphed at the clay-court tournament in Brazil.
Carlos Alcaraz won last year's edition of the event by beating Diego Schwartzman in the final.

The Rio Open will be played at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro.
Schedule
The first-round matches in Rio will take place until Wednesday, February 22. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The singles final will be held on Sunday, February 26.
Players
Reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz is the top seed at the tournament in Brazil and also, arguably, the favorite to win it. The Spaniard is a quality clay-court player and his opponents will no doubt find it hard to get past him.
Second seed Cameron Norrie is also among the contenders to win the ATP 500 event. The Brit has won 11 out of 13 matches so far this season and will compete in the final of the Argentina Open on Sunday, before moving on to Brazil.
Third seed Lorenzo Musetti is also capable of challenging for the title if he is at his best. The Italian has won five out of eight matches so far this season, although most of them came against lower-ranked opponents at the United Cup.
Diego Schwartzman (runner-up in 2022), Francisco Cerundolo, Sebastian Baez, Albert Ramos Vinolas, and Federico Coria are also among the seeded players and will be expected to have a good run in Rio.

The total prize pool for the Rio Open is $2,013,940 and the men's singles champion will earn $376,620.
