Roger Federer's competitive days may be behind him but his involvement in tennis hasn't diminished in the slightest. The 20-time Major champion remains one of the most popular athletes on the planet even in his retirement. Thus, it's no surprise to see some of the biggest brands in the world still associating with him.
Federer, who was previously endorsed by Nike, signed a massive $300 million deal with Uniqlo in 2018 for a decade. Luxury watchmaker Rolex has been intertwined with the world of tennis since 1978 when they joined forces with Wimbledon.
Rolex further extended their partnership across the remaining Majors and other tournaments. Federer initially endorsed the brand before signing on with Maurice Lacroix. However, he paid a break-up fee to them and teamed up with Rolex once again, and remains on their roster even now.
One thing that remained a constant since the start of Federer's career has been his racquet sponsor, Wilson. He has used their gear since his early playing days, and while he experimented with different models, he never wavered from the brand. Their partnership is still going strong.
While Federer is famous all over the world, the level of fame he enjoys in his native Switzerland is on a different level. As such, he is the brand ambassador for quite a few of his home brands, including chocolatier Lindt, home appliance maker Jura, telecom company Sunrise, and the global bank Credit Suisse.
The Swiss legend's latest collaboration sees him joining forces with eyewear brand Oliver Peoples, for whom he has designed a collection as well. His other notable sponsors include Italian food giant Barilla, French winery Moet, and Gillette.
Roger Federer doubles up as an investor and brand ambassador for his brand On
Roger Federer ventured into the sportswear market with the brand On, which designs and markets sportswear and footwear. It was founded in 2010, though the former World No. 1 got on board as a shareholder in 2019. He has been one of the faces of the brand since then.
The company released a limited edition shoe named "The Roger" in July 2020. However, Federer isn't the only tennis player involved as a brand ambassador. Iga Swiatek became the first player to be lapped up by them, and they welcomed Ben Shelton into their fold after that. Brazilian teenager Joao Fonseca became the latest entrant earlier this year.
Federer's vast portfolio of endorsements placed him atop the Forbes list of richest tennis players every year until his retirement. Nevertheless, he still makes a lot of bank even after hanging up his racquet for good.
According to Forbes, Federer made $95 million in 2023, which is a lot more than what active players make. Given his enduring popularity, it's unlikely that he's going to stop raking in the big bucks any time soon.
