Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, showcased his baking skills with creative pancake art for their daughters. The entrepreneur crafted pancakes featuring the name of their younger daughter, Adira, and another pancake with an artistic attempt at portraying Olympia.
Williams and Ohanian first met in Rome in 2015 and exchanged vows two years later, in 2017. The couple welcomed their first daughter Olympia in September 2017, roughly two months before their wedding. The family of three welcomed their new member, Adira, in August of 2023.
In 2018, Serena Williams made her return to the WTA Tour after the birth of her daughter Olympia, joining the ranks of former world No. 1s who came back to the tour after childbirth, including Margaret Court, Kim Clijsters, Evonne Goolagong Cawley, Victoria Azarenka, and others. Williams retired in 2022 and has since focused more on family life and her business ventures.
On Sunday (November 24), Alexis Ohanian shared pictures and videos of his homemade pancake-making process. In one of the pictures, he wrote his daughter Adira's name on a pancake, with the "R" spelled backward. The other video showed him creating a pancake portrait of Olympia wearing a pink tutu on the griddle.
“Hah, I meant to do that backward “R” i swear…” - Serena Williams husband captioned
Ohanian shared more images and videos from his time with his family, including a video of Olympia having some marshmallows by the bonfire. He also posted an image of coconut-covered and chocolate-glazed doughnuts and captioned it:
“Only because my family is in town.”
Serena Williams on parenting with Alexis Ohanian - “My husband will tell you I am too hands-on”
In 2022, Serena Williams spoke to Vogue about parenting with her husband, Alexis Ohanian. The 23-time Grand Slam winner shared that she is a hands-on mother and that Olympia has only been away from her for one day in five years. She also mentioned that nothing feels like a sacrifice when it comes to her daughter.
"I'm not going to lie—I definitely have a lot of support. But I'm also an incredibly hands-on mother. My husband will tell you I am too hands-on. In five years, Olympia has only spent one 24-hour period away from me.
This past year, while I was recovering from a hamstring injury, I got to pick her up from school four or five days a week, and I always looked forward to seeing her face light up when she walked out of the building and saw me waiting there for her. The fact is that nothing is a sacrifice for me when it comes to Olympia."
Just six months after the birth of her daughter Olympia, Serena Williams returned to the WTA Tour in 2018. Over the next four years, until her retirement in 2022, she reached four Grand Slam finals and won the 2020 ASB Classic.
