Serena Williams' unique collaboration with Nike has entered another year and the American tennis legend proudly highlighted some of the members working on the project. Williams introduced some of the women who are part of the Class of 2023 of the Serena Williams Design Crew (SWDC), working at Nike.

Back in 2019, Williams teamed up with her long-time sponsor Nike for an apprenticeship program for designers from underrepresented backgrounds. Each year, 10 such emerging designers are selected by Nike, who then work on a new Nike collection under the leadership of Williams herself.

The first SWDC collection was released in 2021. Now, as the project enters another year, the team recently announced that it will soon release a reinvented version of the famous Nike Air Max 90 futura. With work on certain designs completed and more ongoing in full flow, Williams decided to reveal some of its biggest contributors.

"Made for the dreamers, by the dreamers. Each year, we hand-select up-and-coming designers to bring fresh new takes from their own cultural lens. Meet some of the designers behind the 2023 SWDC Collection," Serena Williams captioned her post on Instagram.

A couple of the members also shed light on the exciting work they have been part of with the SWDC. One of the aforementioned designers, Shade Pratt, highlighted how the team, led by Williams and Nike, have been given the freedom to think outside the box and come up with interesting designs.

The Serena Williams Design crew recently came up with a rendition of the Nike Air More Uptempo with a denim-centric design, inspired by Williams' famous denim skirt moment on the tennis court. Back at the 2004 US Open, Williams redefined style on the court by wearing a denim skirt for her matches.

In a tribute to Williams' career, the Nike Air More Uptempo sported a blue denim look with the Air symbol and Nike swoosh logo displayed brightly. The shoe was released earlier this month.

Meanwhile, the SWDC's newest design, the Nike Air Max 90 Futura is made using suede and leather and has shades of pink, red and beige. The shoe is made from repurposed materials.

Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian, who is the co-founder of Reddit, also praised the new version of the Air Max 90 Futura.

"Love these," Ohanian wrote on Twitter.
