Following her win over Magda Linette in the final at the 2024 Open Capfinances Rouen Metropole, Sloane Stephens shared that her decision to participate in the inaugural WTA 250 tournament in Rouen, France, was a spontaneous one.

Despite this, Stephens expressed her delight in securing another title, her first title victory playing indoors. She also mentioned that winning in Rouen was a "nice way" to start her clay court season.

"Coming here was kind of a last-minute decision, so I'm really happy to be through and win another title. It's my first title indoors, I think, so that's really nice and really cool, and just a really nice way to start off the clay-court swing," Stephens said.

The former world no. 3 also praised her opponent, Linette, for her strong performance during the final match.

"Magda [Linette] played well, we've played a bunch of different times. She played really well in the second [set] and I just had to kind of figure it out in the third, which I did, which I was really happy about. A tough match, but I knew it was going to be tough from the beginning, so I was prepared for that," she added.

Sloane Stephens will next compete at the 2024 Madrid Open, where she will face Martina Trevisan in the first round.
