The new set of rankings is released by the WTA, where Aryna Sabalenka continues to hold the World No. 1 as of 2025. After her last dominant season, she secured the 2024 WTA Player of the Year, according to tennis.com polls. By winning the 2025 Miami Open and the 2025 Madrid Open and finishing finalist at the 2025 Indian Wells Masters, Sabalenka surpassed Iga Swiatek to become No. 1, who enjoyed a solid spell at the top of the ranking.
As this week's ranking is released, Sabalenka will continue to have 10,683 points, thus increasing the lead over Swiatek, who has 5,838 points. By reaching the semifinal of the 2024 WTA Finals, Sabalenka acquired year-end No. 1 after her win against Zheng Qinwen and Jasmine Paolini and Iga Swiatek's loss to Coco Gauff in the WTA Finals. Failing to defend her 2025 Italian Open and 2025 Madrid Open titles, Swiatek drops to her lowest ranking of No. 5 since March 2022. With Paolini winning her home title at the Italian Open, she climbed to No. 4 spot in the ranking list.
