Martina Navratilova has labeled Elon Musk "toxic" for his accusations against former United States National Security Council member Alexander Vindman on X. The American tennis icon lamented there being "no consequences" for Musk as he owns the social media platform.

Musk has accused Vindman, a key witness in Donald Trump’s first impeachment, of "treason" on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter). This came after Vindman expressed concerns on MSNBC about Musk’s potential discussions with Vladimir Putin and his influence on US politics (via The Independent):

"And [Putin’s] been using the richest man in the world to do his bidding. In some cases, that’s encouraging him probably to support Donald Trump. That’s not speculation. We see how far Elon has gone. And then using Twitter as a disinformation platform."

Vindman alleged Musk might have shared "state secrets" due to his federal contracts with companies like SpaceX and Tesla. Musk responded by accusing Vindman of working for "Ukrainian oligarchs."

"Vindman is on the payroll of Ukrainian oligarchs and has committed treason against the United States, for which he will pay the appropriate penalty," the 53-year-old wrote.

Sharing a post that called Musk's tweet about Vindman "stochastic terrorism," Navratilova commented:

"Musk is toxic. This is so not ok. But he owns the platform so can do and say whatever the fuck he wants with no consequences"

Vindman dismissed Musk's accusations as "false" and "completely unfounded." He likened them to conspiracy theories and questioned the basis of those allegations, denying any financial ties to oligarchs, Ukrainian or otherwise.

Martina Navratilova has criticized Elon Musk's controversial decision to publicly name the federal employees he plans to dismiss as head of the upcoming Department of Government Efficiency. The role was announced by President-elect Donald Trump, who will take office in January 2025, with J.D. Vance as vice president.

Musk's reposting of federal employee names on X (formerly Twitter) sparked backlash. Navratilova took to X and questioned:

"Who is going to stop this toxic man?"

In response, a user mocked her past as a tennis player:

"Not a washed-up tennis ball chaser, for sure. Enjoy the show, loser."

The 18-time Grand Slam champion replied:

"Lol. You feel better now, big man?:) thanks for the laugh."

The user later extended a Thanksgiving wish and claimed he was happy since the election results were announced, but Navratilova didn't engage further.
