US Open hopeful Jules Marie fell victim to a cruel prank in which he received an email confirming his participation in the Grand Slam qualifiers. However, after communicating with the tour manager, Marie discovered the email was a hoax.
Marie was alternate #2 for the 2024 US Open qualifiers. Two withdrawals would have helped the Frenchman make his way into his first qualifiers at the New York Major.
He posted a screenshot of an email he received he received on his Instagram story on August 20. Posing as an official communicator of the US Open, the email falsely stated that Henrique Rocha and Michael Zheng had withdrawn from the event and Marie was added to the qualifiers.
In another email, Marie was informed of a schedule stating that he would replace Rocha in the first-round qualifier match against Quentin Halys. He was upset when he discovered that the email was fake.
"The tour manager doesn’t understand. There was no package. Some a**hole sent me this email,” he shared on his Instagram Story.
In one of his next Instagram Stories, Marie revealed that he has all the information about the prankster. He also mentioned that he would be filing a complaint. Here is a translated version of his remarks:
"I have all the info on that guy... call tomorrow with a lawyer to file a complaint😊 I hope he sees this story... I'm not really going to stop there 🙏🏼 not for nothing that I'm 4m behind the line and I'm not giving up anything 🤩... we will see you soon."

Notably, Marie is a famed tennis personality on YouTube with over 125,000 subscribers. He retired from professional tennis in 2015 but continued to participate in local tournaments.
Following a title in Caen in 2021, he tried to relaunch his career while sharing behind-the-scenes videos of his journey on tour on YouTube. Marie has been a training partner of Novak Djokovic and he even played in the qualifiers at the Australian Open this year.
Jules Marie hilariously asks Andy Murray to withdraw from Wimbledon so he can enter qualifiers

Just like at the US Open, Jules Marie was also an alternate in qualifiers at Wimbledon. If any players who were already qualified withdrew from the event, Marie could take their place. The Frenchman hilariously shot his shot at British tennis legend Andy Murray. Marie jokingly asked the two-time champion to withdraw in his Instagram DMs.
"Mate, goat, legend," Marie began, "I'm [an] alternate [in] qualies. Is there any chance you can withdraw from Wimbledon ... before 10 a.m. tomorrow to let me play my first Wimbledon?" Jules Marie wrote to Andy Murray (per Tennis.com).
Although Murray withdrew from the singles event later, Marie had already qualified for the Wimbledon qualifiers due to Calvin Hemery's withdrawal. Unfortunately for the Frenchman, he faced defeat in the first round of the qualifiers against Luca Van Assche.
