Alexander Zverev sent a special thank you to his team after winning the 2024 Italian Open by spraying champagne on his dad and brother. The German defeated Nicolas Jarry in the summit clash in straight sets in an hour and 49 minutes.

Zverev, who has been in sublime form this year, was struggling to win a title despite reaching the latter stages of tournaments. He came into the European clay court swing with the hope of turning things around but to no avail as he was eliminated in the latter stages of the Monte-Carlos Masters, Bavarian International, and the Madrid Masters.

The German entered the Italian Open as the third seed due to the absence of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. He received a bye in the first round and kicked off his campaign with a win against Aleksander Vuki in the opening round. Zverev followed this with wins over Luciano Darderi and Nuno Borges in the next two rounds setting up a quarterfinal clash with 11th seed Taylor Fritz.

The World No. 5 comfortably dealt with the American to reach the final 4. Zverev dropped his first set of the tournament against Alejandro Tabilo but came back from behind to oust the Chilean. He defeated 21st seed Nicolas Jarry defeated him 6-4, 7-5 to clinch the sixth Masters 1000 title of his career.

After the presentation ceremony, Alexander Zverev went to his team and sprayed champagne all over his father Alexander Zverev Sr, brother Mischa Zverev, and team. He then shook hands with his father, who kissed the Italian Open champion on the forehead.

Alexander Zverev began his victory speech by introducing himself as Jannik Sinner to the Rome crowd pulling their leg.

"Buongiorno, everyone! My name is Jannik," the German joked during his victory speech.

The German possibly alluded to his remarks where he mentioned that he would love to have the Italian crowd's support for the tournament amidst Sinner's absence due to a hip injury.

"The Italians are a crazy crowd, and I love that. I love energy. I love when they're loud. And when they're for you, it's even better. I would not replace Jannik, but maybe for this week, if they can see it like that, I'm happy about that.," Zverev said at the post-match press conference after his semifinals match.

Alexander Zverev will jump to World No. 4 after his triumphant run in Italy and will head into the 2024 Roland Garros next.
