Alexander Zverev is a German professional tennis player, and widely regarded as among the best tennis players in the world. At the age of 20, he became the youngest player to debut in the Top-20 since Novak Djokovic. Since then, he has climbed up the rankings, reaching as high as No.2 and has a world ranking of No.5 as of May 2024. Zverev has an aggressive game-style, including a bazooka serve and pounding ground-strokes.

He also finished quarterfinalist at the 2024 Bavarian International, losing to Cristian Garín.



Born in Hamburg, Germany, 'Sascha' began playing tennis at the age of 5. He has idolized Roger Federer growing up, and has also defeated him during the course of his career. In 2021, Alexander Zverev was awarded the German Sports Personality of the Year Award.



In 2021, the German reached the US Open final, where he lost to Dominic Thiem after winning the first two sets. Similarly in the 2024 Australian Open semifinal, Zverev conceded the match to Daniil Medvedev after being up by two sets; the Russian won 5-7 3-6 7-6 7-6 6-3. He registered his 400th win after defeating Lukas Klein.

Irina Zverev is Alexander Zverev’s mother. She was also a professional tennis player who represented the Soviet Union in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. Her career was limited while living in the Soviet Union as the government restricted tennis players from competing internationally. Once the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, Irina traveled to Germany to compete at tournaments on the ITF circuit.


Mrs. Zverev reached five singles finals on the ITF circuit, out of which three were in Germany and two of were in Greece. An interesting fact about her career was that she won her last runners-up trophy against Apostoli Tsitsipas, who is Stefanos Tsitsipas’ mother. Zverev and Tsitsipas are currently among the top 10 players on the men’s tour.
