Frances Tiafoe is an American professional tennis player. After a promising junior career, he made a slow and steady transition to the main tour from 2015. Affectionately known as “Big Foe” by friends, rivals and fans, his jovial personality and big game have earned him a huge following. He won his first, and so far only, title at the 2018 Delray Beach Open. He has been a runner-up on two other occasions, at the Estoril Open in 2018 and the Vienna Open in 2021. So far he has peaked at number 29 in the rankings. His best Grand Slam result has been a quarterfinal appearance at the 2019 Australian Open. He has scored wins over plenty of top players like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev, among others.
With no fixed monthly income for tennis players, they rely on the prize money earned from tournaments. Tiafoe has earned upwards of $5 million so far in his career.
At the start of his career, Tiafoe was sponsored by Adidas for clothing, but has been with Nike since 2016. Yonex is his racquet sponsor. Luxury watchmaker Tag Heuer signed him as a brand ambassador in 2019, followed by Nesquik in 2020.
Tiafoe was born in Maryland, US but now resides in Florida, US.

Tiafoe has aligned himself with various social causes. Following the increase in racial tensions due to police brutality in 2020, along with his girlfriend, Tiafoe sparked a social media movement, “Racquets Down, Hands Up.” He also contributed to the relief work during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. All of this fetched him the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award in 2020.

Although born to immigrant parents from Sierra Leone, Tiafoe is American.
