Italian tennis sensation Jannik Sinner impressed Daniil Medvedev with his skills during their final match at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam on 19 February.

Medvedev defeated Sinner 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday to win the ABN AMRO World Indoor Tournament title in Rotterdam, his first tournament victory of 2023.

The former world No. 1 was trailing the Italian, who was aiming for back-to-back titles after winning at Montpellier last weekend, by a set. But he was at his tenacious best and heaved his way back for his 16th Tour victory.

During the match, Jannik Sinner, however, missed a ball hit by Daniil Medvedev, which then hit the stadium wall and caused a piece to break. Afterwards, the Italian rushed in and demonstrated his craftsmanship skills by attempting to repair the broken piece, which even made his opponent smile.

Jannik Sinner is one of the most exciting young players on the tour. The 21-year-old made significant progress last season, advancing to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, the Australian Open, and the US Open.

Sinner stated in a 2022 interview with the ATP Podcast that his aim for the 2023 season is to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals. He added that he wouldn't want to "miss important matches and tournaments" the way he was forced to do last year (2022).

"I'm aiming for Turin. I want to get back to playing the Nitto ATP Finals. I know I can do it, but it will be decisive not to miss important matches and tournaments as I was forced to do this year," Sinner said.

Jannik Sinner reminisced about his 2022 season in the same interview, stating that although it was an "unlucky" year, he was "proud" of what he achieved.

"It's been a tough season for me, I've had small problems in so many tournaments," Sinner said, adding, "But from another point of view, I played many games, I got more continuous results with many eighths and many quarter-finals. It's been an unlucky year, but in many ways, I can be proud of what I've done."

The next stop for Sinner is the Open 13 Provence in Marseille, France.
