Tennis legend John McEnroe and his daughter Emily recently treated tennis fans at Indian Wells 2023 to a splendid band performance.

Indian Wells introduced a variety of new entertainment activities this year. Tennis royalty John McEnroe and his band as well as the 'Bryan Bros. Band' were invited for gigs during the on-going event in Tennis Paradise.

John McEnroe, who has frequently performed during US Open charity events, took to the stage at Indian Wells on Saturday (March 11). His daughter Emily McEnroe also made a cameo on the vocals alongside him. The seven-time Grand Slam champion was also seen playing the electric guitar as the band performed a few classics.

'Walking on Sunshine' by British rock band Katrina and the Waves, 'Just Like Heaven' by English rock band The Cure as well as 'Bad Reputation' by Joan Jett were a few of the covers included in the gig.

John McEnroe is a father to five children. The American tennis legend has been married twice. He has two daughters, Ava and Anna, with his current wife – American singer and songwriter Patty Smyth. He shares three children - two sons Kevin and Sean, and daughter Emily - with his first wife, famed Hollywood actress Tatum O’Neal.

The sporting icon has previously admitted that he pushed his children away from tennis, so as not to burden them with people’s expectations.

“It’s tougher for me to see my kids feel like they have a hard time living up to my expectations. One of the reasons why I really pushed my kids away from tennis is ‘cause I didn’t want them to have to live up to sort of, 'You gotta be better than John McEnroe,’” he confessed in an interview from 2018.

In tune with his declaration, none of his children have professionally pursued the sport. His oldest daughter Emily’s profession is more inclined towards her mother Tatum O’Neal’s. She mainly works as an actor as well as a voice actor in the entertainment industry.

However, in a recently released commercial for Darner Socks, the 31-year-old featured on the tennis court and she had a go at her father’s choice of sport. Emily shared the short commercial video with her fans on social media.

"Hi, I am Emily McEnroe and I love my Darner Tennis Match Socks. They are my favorite socks and they are the best socks. Does the socks make me a better tennis player? No. Should I even be playing tennis in them? Probably not, no," she is heard saying in the entertaining commercial.
