Roger Federer recently co-starred with award-winning Hollywood actor Mads Mikkelsen in a new commercial for Switzerland Tourism. The Danish actor has starred in numerous top-rated movies and TV shows, including his role as the main antagonist Le Chiffre in Casino Royale, as well as appearances in Doctor Strange, Hannibal, and many others.
Mikkelsen has also won several prestigious awards, including the European Film Award for Best Actor in 2020 and 2023, the Cannes Best Actor Award in 2012, and the Saturn Award for Best Actor on Television in 2014, among other accolades.
Federer, meanwhile, has also recently been involved in the film industry. His documentary film Federer: Twelve Final Days, which chronicles the last 12 days of his career, was released on Amazon Prime in June.
On Tuesday, an X user shared Switzerland Tourism's commercial featuring a plot in which the director searches for Mikkelsen, who is enjoying the beauty of nature by a lake and in the woods. Federer goes into the forest to find him, but he, too, becomes captivated by the stunning scenery and ends up playfully lying on the ground, covered in autumn leaves.
Roger Federer on his documentary - “It's a tough watch, but a good one”
At the premiere of Roger Federer's documentary Federer: Twelve Final Days, he described the film as a tough but rewarding watch while speaking to the press. The Swiss legend retired in 2022 as one of the most decorated players in tennis history, with a total of 20 Grand Slam titles.
The Swiss also mentioned his plans to spend more time with his family at home before deciding on his next project.
“I'm definitely not bored at home. Life's great. I'm trying to be the best dad I can, What's next? I want to actually wait and see a little bit. I don't want to have a million things to do right now. I want to be a good dad, a good husband, and be settled a little bit more and then decide, sort of the next mega project, if you like,” he said.
Speaking about the movie, the Swiss said he was really curious to see how people would react to it, adding that it was an emotional but good film.
"It's not like I'm crying through 1.5 hours of the film, you know? It's a tough watch, but a good one. You see the struggles that we go through and also how vulnerable we are in many ways and how much the fans and the spotlight means to me. It's such a beautiful moment in time that I'm really curious to find out how people will like it. We'll see," he said.
Since his retirement, Roger Federer has developed other hobbies away from tennis, such as golf. However, his love for the game has not diminished, as he recently attended the men’s and women’s singles quarterfinals at the 2024 US Open.
