Nick Kyrgios' manager and friend, Daniel Horsfall, has shared a welcome update regarding the Australian star's injury, for which he recently underwent surgery. With the surgery having gone well, Horsfall revealed that Kyrgios would start his recovery process soon while in a knee brace.
Due to an unfortunate injury when an MRI scan revealed a cyst in his knee, the 27-year-old was forced to miss the 2023 Australian Open. The devastating news also meant that Kyrgios was unable to defend his doubles title alongside long-time friend Thanasi Kokkinakis. His absence was felt sorely by Australian fans. who were hoping for a repeat performance by the "Special K's" once again.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Horsfall expressed his delight at the outcome of the surgery and stated that Kyrgios' team is raring to go as soon as he is fully fit.
"The surgery went great," he announced to the relief of Kyrgios' many fans. “To be honest, we couldn’t have asked for a better result. We’re all pretty pleased, the team is ready to go, when he’s ready, we’re ready."
Kyrgios is also itching to get back on the court soon, as evidenced by his frequent updates on social media. The 27-year-old posted a video showcasing his brilliant tennis skills at the Indian Wells Masters, stating that he missed being on the court.

After missing out on playing at the 2023 Australian Open due to a cyst in his knee, Nick Kyrgios is looking to make his return to the court at the Indian Wells Masters in March. While sharing the news, Nick Kyrgios' physiotherapist, Will Maher, explained that a small tear in the player's lateral meniscus resulted in a cyst.
“There's a parameniscal cyst growing in his left meniscus, which is the result of a small tear in his lateral meniscus," Maher told reporters.
Kyrgios then underwent an arthroscopic procedure to remove the cyst and repair his lateral meniscus. Will Maher was quick to reassure fans that the injury was not career threatening and that the World No. 20 would be back on court sooner rather than later.
After successful surgery, Maher confirmed that it was very realistic for the Australian to be back playing at the Indian Wells Masters.
“From there it's a relatively straightforward recovery through February for him, and very realistic to be back on the court for Indian Wells,” the physiotherapist reported.
Nick Kyrgios too shared an update with his fans a few days back, posting a picture of himself in a hospital bed after successful completion of the surgery. The 2022 Wimbledon finalist assured his followers that he would do everything in his power to get back to his best as he thanked them for their support.
