The possibility of Roger Federer joining BBC for their Wimbledon 2023 coverage has got quite a few tennis fans excited.

According to various reports, the Swiss maestro is in direct talks to appear on the commentary panel for BBC. The 20-time Grand Slam winner retired from the sport last year after a teary-eyed affair at the Laver Cup in London.

In his last professional match, Roger Federer partnered up with long time friend and rival Rafael Nadal in a doubles match. The Swiss-Spaniard duo ended up losing the match to Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe.

As reported by the Telegraph, Federer could be a part of BBC's new commentary team. Following Sue Barker's retirement a new studio is being built by the British media house, and they are reportedly planning to bring in fresh faces as part of the overhaul.

Not surprisingly, many tennis fans took to social media to react to the news of the possible return of eight-time Wimbledon champion Federer to SW19. Some joked that Rafael Nadal has to win the title to make Federer happy.

"Nadal has to win it so that his BF can feel proud from the box and deliver epic commentary quotes," a fan said.

Another fan expressed her excitement at the prospect of Federer commenting over a possible clash between Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

"The idea of roger commentating a Rafa or Novak match," another fan said.

One user hoped for Djokovic to win his ninth Wimbledon title in order to witness the retire Swiss player congratulate the Serb.

"Would be wonderful to see him announcing Novak Djokovic as champion of Wimbledon for 2023 xD," one tweet read.
