The 38-year-old is currently preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics that will be at Roland Garros. This means that the matches will be played on clay and due to this, the Spaniard decided to skip the grass swing to not hinder his preparations.

The 22-time Major champion entered the singles and doubles alongside Casper Ruud at the Nordea Open. While he has already made it to the semifinals in doubles, he reached the singles quarterfinals after ousting Leo Borg in the first round and Norrie in the second.

Against the Brit, the World No. 261 easily took the first set. However, he found himself 1-4 down in the second. In typical Nadal fashion, he turned things around to win the match in straight sets and send Norrie packing.

Fans took to Reddit to react to the Spaniard's scintillating performance. One of the fans even questioned the possibility of the 38-year-old winning a title in 2024 before Novak Djokovic.

"Wouldn't it be HILARIOUS if Nadal won a title before Djokovic this year?" a fan questioned.

Another fan said how the former World No. 1 was chasing every single ball was lovely, but was also worried that he could get injured in the process.

"Nadal was chasing every damn ball like a madman lol, you love to see it; at least until you remember he's probably just one major injury away from retirement, then you hate to see it.," a fan said.

Here are some other reactions from the fans:

"Yeah wtf is up with that, bro forgot he wasn’t 25 anymore moving like that. Going to feel it in the morning," a fan joked.

"Bro is too active on social media now lol. He saw all of the reddit basement dwellers saying he was 1-2 steps slower and washed," another fan joked.
"Saw the match. Nadal looks a lot better than when he first returned this season. Great second set, especially from being down 1-4 to 6-4. He can take the singles and the doubles! Good test in the next round against Navone," a fan opined.

"This 38 year old wild card is pretty good," a fan poked fun.
"We're so back!!!," a fan was excited.

This is the 38-year-old's second quarterfinal of the season having reached the final eight at the Brisbane International earlier in the year. However, this is the Spaniard's first quarterfinal on clay since the 2022 French Open.

The winner of their match will play the winner of the match between Duje Ajdukovic and Thiago Monteiro in the semifinals. The top three seeds Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, and Tallon Griekspoor have already been eliminated.
